Just to add a couple of other points. MS-DOS/PC-DOS wasn't a Microsoft product, it was bought from a company called Seattle Computer Products. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seattle_Computer_Products IE wasn't a Microsoft product, but a derivative of the Mosaic browser produced by Spyglass Inc. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spyglass,_Inc. Microsoft has never had much of a talent for producing good software or innovations. Microsoft's real talent lies in it's uncanny ability to use anti-competitive practices to its advantage while lobbying to keeping anti-trust authorities off their back through political lobbying.
